Final Question and Math
How long does it take for an EXPO marker to hit ground from waist height? And what shutter speed would be needed?
Finding the Formula
Potential Energy (PE) = Kinetic Energy (KE)
PE=mgh
KE=1/2m*v^2
In this case
*m=mass
*g=acceleration due to gravity (constant of 9.8 m/s^2)
*h=height
*v=velocity (velocity=height/time)
Simplified!
PE=KE
mgh=1/2m*v^2
2(mgh)=v^2
Square root of (2(mgh))=v
V=d/t BUT we want to find time, so t=d/v
Final Formula: T=d/(square root(2(mgh)))
d=floor to waist height
d or h = 0.99 m
m = 13.3 g
g = 9.8
Time = .99/(square root(2(13.3*9.8*.99)=0.0616
Into a fraction: 0.0616=77/1250
Closest shutter speed! 1/15

Last Strobe
The other day Audrey and I just wanted a break day so we tried to do something different for a strobe. So this is Audrey climbing stairs!
Shattered Lens.
For my homemade device, I decided to do something different. I had thought about making my own vignette, but that didn't work out. So I chose to smash one of my lens filters. I thought that it would smash nicely and then I could hot glue it back together to take pictures for this. But I forget that glass smashes in a completely different way. Pretty much destroyed at a point and then "rays" out from there. And that's what it did. When I stated taking pictures of things in my backyard, it didn't really get the look I was going for in the photos. They were just fuzzy, it looked like it was humid. And then the thought hit me, the center of the smash was right there. So I tried taking a picture with the sun peeking through a tree. This look was cool, the light spread out all over.
*No worries, I do have more than one of these filters(:

Scootering Through the Dark::Strobes
The second and third images on here are what we actually started with getting... Where we could see the scooter and the hands, but we couldn't see any of the body. The first image has a hidden face. (: And the fourth image kinda turned out. We could see the majority of what was happening.
Sound Triggered #2
Our second idea was to use dice... This took a lot of trial and error. A lot of our photos turned out either completely black or completely white for quite a while. We also had issues with both the sound trigger and the flash, so we switched it out for the one we knew worked. We ended up figuring out how to do it and had quite a few turn out. We threw the dice continuously so that the flash would go off when they first hit as well as while other ones were still falling. (: Here are some pics.

Sound Triggered Photo?
Well, Audrey and I weren't really prepared on Thursday for doing sound triggered photos so we went searching through the scene shop for something loud. In a large fluffy pile of dust, we found this old EXPO marker. We weren't really sure if it would work for what we need it to.... But here is our photo from that. We threw the marker at the ground and then the flash was triggered. DUN DUN DUN. (;

Strobe Photos Day #1
The photos started to get better after I figured out what I was doing.... I'm still wanting to get different ones than these, but this is a start. The first one up there is a fail, but the next two aren't bad...

Past AAPT Contest Winner::Inspiration #2
I also love this one, not just the colors and all the little things that photographers like... But I love how this is something so simple. You see these dandelions all over the place in yards in the spring and summer. And I'm sure that the majority of us have "made a wish" by trying to blow all the fluff off. But it all happens so fast that you never see this, and I think that is the cool part of it.

Dun Dun Dun... The Project Revealed.
Decision: Photography Tricks
Why? I am into photography but have never done anything with high speed photography. I'm excited and ready to learn about this different type of photography.
